TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned terrorist suicide attacks in Nigeria, reiterating the need to fight “extremist thoughts” to root out terrorism.

Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said Iran is ready to share its experiences with Nigeria in campaign against terrorism.

On Saturday, in the north-eastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, female suicide bombers blew themselves up and killed one other person and injured several others.

A spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency Sani Datti said, “Four female suicide bombers at about 7:45am today [Saturday] in the morning attempted to enter an ... area of Maiduguri but were intercepted by the civilian JTF (joint military task force),” ABC News reported.

“Three of the female suicide bombers detonated the explosions in their bodies immediately and the fourth one was intercepted but later died,” he said.

------Afkham condemns imprisoning of Iranian national in U.S.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman also said on Sunday that the U.S. action in imprisoning Iranian national Mozafar Khazaee is “unfair” and “unacceptable”.

She also said some Iranian nationals are imprisoned in the U.S. due to “unreasonable” reasons, adding that during the past years Iran has made efforts to prove that they are not guilty.

Afkham said Iran will continue efforts to free nationals from U.S. prisons.
